Some here have wondered why I trusted Hillary Clinton so much, and as I said it was because I assumed she was as capable as her husband was. Say what you will about President Bill Clinton, but he understood foreign policy. This was President Clinton's proposal for a "Palestinian" state (on the left is what Arafat claimed Israel had proposed): Israel accepted the proposal, the PLO reacted with war.

The new Egyptian report finally exposes this fraudulent picture with hard facts and figures. For instance, the oversupply of building materials has in fact depressed the market price per ton of iron from $1066 in 2008 to $533 in March 2010; cement has dropped even more steeply, from just over a thousand dollars then to $240 today, because of an overabundance. http://www.debka.com/article/8684/ One wonders why the UN feel it is necessary to lie about the economic situation in Gaz...

Abbas said: "I am committed to whatever decision you take. If you agree, we will go for [indirect] talks and give [the Israelis] a chance. If you reject [this idea], I will abide by your decision... If there is another alternative, tell me what it is. If the alternative is war [with Israel], I promise you that I will be the first [to set forth]." Qatar answered: This elicited a jocular reply from Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jasim Aal Thani, who said...

The Arab countries have deported their Jewish population in the last 80 years. A few thousand are left in Morocco and Tunisia. Most Arab states are Jew-free. Jordan deported all its Jews in 1948, including those who lived in Jerusalem when Jordan annexed it. The "international community" does not appear to have a problem with that. When the UN speak of "refugees" they mean "non-Jewish refugees". "International law" apparently differentiates between Jew and non-Jew. There is no special U...

Firebombing Jewish-owned vehicles is small potatoes in comparison to developments at the center of mass of the Israeli Arab onslaught: state land. Over the past decade, Israeli Arabs have seized millions of dunams of state land. The dimensions of this phenomenon were spelled out in last year’s State Comptroller’s Report. While the local and international Left pillories Israel when the state tries to demolish a handful of the thousands of illegal Arab buildings in Jerusalem, what...

An Israeli friend of mine wrote this: Mistake #1: Education. Israel’s bureaucrats, over the years, allowed for the creation of three different education systems in Israel - one for Israelis, one for religious Jews and one for Arabs. The first is controlled by the state (and not doing so well) while the other two are only supposedly controlled by the state (and doing significantly worse). Mistake #2 Erosion of the authority of the state. From ‘48, Israel has allowed various ...

Quoting from an open letter to President Obama by Iranian journalist Alinejad Rooz: "We have not received a Norooz congratulatory message from you this year. But let's assume that you will send a message like you did last year. Will this one be addressed to the Iranian nation or to the Islamic republic? "Do you know what condition the people that you congratulated last year are in now?  The same nation that did not chide you for recognizing the legitimacy of the Islamic regime despi...

This is a playlist I set up for a (quiet) party with my friends. It's basically a list of songs and melodies I like to listen to while doing other things. See what you can learn from it about me and whether it is what you expected me to like (it probably is). 1. White & Nerdy (Weird Al Yankovic) 2. Rabbi Jacob (theme music of the movie The Adventures of Rabbi Jacob ) 3. The Gnu Song (a song about the letters in the word "Gnu", very nice) 4. Chebacca (Star Wars parody song from...

Jew : "Your child in exchange for the house. One for the other." Palestinian man : "Are you authorized [to cut a deal]?" Jew : "No, no. Absolutely not. You can call it an initiative by a do-gooder. No more." Palestinian man : "A do-gooder?" Palestinian woman : "Get out of the house! Get out!" Jew : "A house can be compensated for, but a child... Think about it. Think about it carefully, and let me know what you've decided. You may find me in the nearby Talmud institute." ...

This is something Americans should understand: Hezbollah’s reaction to Israel’s plan to build 1,600 apartments in a Jewish neighborhood in East Jerusalem might help President Barack Obama understand something that has so far eluded him: the Syrian-Iranian-Hamas-Hezbollah resistance bloc will not allow him to appease it. “The scheme is yet another part of a Judaization campaign,” Hezbollah said in a statement quoted by the Tehran Times, “that targets the holy...

This is an opportunity for a really sarcastic article about how the supposed war crime of liberating Iraq somehow led to Iraqis voting for the very people who not only supported the invasion but even those who made the invasion happen . But instead of writing such an article, I thought I will rather celebrate this great democratic success and give liberals who opposed the invasion a chance to celebrate this too. For the third time Iraqis have had the chance to vote. Omar of Iraq the Model...

It is widely known that Israel is in the Middle-East a special case: an apartheid state with a brutal, violent racist government in a sea of enlightened peace-loving frightened Arab countries. So I figure Israel should learn how to be a responsible member of the international community? But since I am a bloodthirsty racist Zionists it is hard for me to know how to be a responsible member of the international community and I can only learn by example. I want to know: Should Israel con...

A Christian shopkeeper was gunned down on Wednesday in the main northern Iraqi city of Mosul, where eight members of the minority were killed in 10 days last month, a police officer said. ... In November, New York-based Human Rights Watch warned that minorities in the oil-rich north including Christians were the collateral victims of a conflict between Arabs and Kurds over who controls Iraq's disputed northern provinces. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20100317/wl_mideast...

Proving that some liberals still defend liberal values the Kurdish author writes: "Yesterday, several MPs from an Arab country gave their stances vis-à-vis the assassination of Hamas leader Mahmoud Al-Mabhouh. As pious Muslim Arabs, they expressed their resentment and hatred of the Jews, whom they called pigs, and depicted their legitimate democratic state, Israel, in strident and inappropriate terms. They also referred to Osama bin Laden, calling him a hero and a redeemer who had do...

I found this interesting article on Ynet News. Rethinking Palestine Martin Sherman offers a paradigm shift from the political to the humanitarian And he makes some excellent points: It is time for the proponents of the two-state solution to admit that the Palestinians have failed the test of history in staking their claim for statehood. A dispassionate evaluation of the events of the past two decades inexorably compels one towards an increasing evident conclusion: The ...
