A humanitarian convoy [meaning they carried equipment for terrorists, the actual humanitarian convois cross the border from Israel under UN auspices (Leauki)] led by maverick MP George Galloway carrying medical supplies for Gaza has come under attack in Egypt The convoy, carrying aid worth £1 million, was pelted with stones and vandalised after it stopped in El-Arish, a small town around 28 miles from the Rafah border crossing with Gaza. "It's an absolute disgrace,'...

About talking to western peace activists: At this point I realized how silly I looked as a Palestinian defending Israel. Fuck Israel, what have they done for me lately? I'm joining in the fun! http://nizos.blogspot.com/2009/02/apartheid-discourse-spreading.html   About 1948 and 1967, Zionism, and Arab governments when interviewed by a western student who seemed surprised by the answers: I care more about how the refugee crisis is perpetuated rather than about who and wha...

Once again and as usual, we Arabs, at least some of us, are in a big mess . The Islamist extremist Hamas group which came to power through democracy in 2006, hijacked Gaza , established its rocket factories in residential areas , in bunkers under mosques , schools , and hospitals . For the past three years Hamas jihadists and their affiliates have launched their Kassam rockets at residential areas in Israel . Also during the cease fire brokered by Egypt in 2008, Ha...

I think Israel also deserves credit for being the only country in the middle east that kept the total number of casualties below 20,000. For some reason that never comes up in discussions of how evil Israel is.   Algerian Civil War (1991-2002): - Algerian Arab government vs Islamists - 150,000-200,00 dead   Lebanese Civil War (1975-1990): - Arab national socialists, Syria, and PLO vs Lebanese Catholics and (for some time) Israel - 130,000-250,000 dead (Israel wa...

According to reports I read, President Obama has pledged US$1 Billion to "rebuild" Gaza. I wonder what would happen if he sent that same amount of money to sub-Saharan Africa instead, to fight AIDS, actual poverty, and hunger? What, specifically, is Obama for and against? He obviously doesn't care about hungry Africans (or he would send them the money). But what's so important about killing Jews that the terrorists must receive new money? I don't get it? Why do Democrats hate hung...

A Pentagon review of conditions at the Guantanamo Bay military prison has concluded that the treatment of detainees meets the requirements of the Geneva Conventions ... The report, which President Obama ordered, was prepared by Adm. Patrick M. Walsh, the vice chief of naval operations, and has been delivered to the White House. Obama requested the review as part of an executive order on the planned closure of the prison at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, on the southeaster...

Shalom From Turkey Dear Sir or madam, I am a 31 years old Turkish man I do not want to take a risk or maybe advance my self by not showing my identity. So i am not posting via email. I just want to express my feelings. All my life, there was always some hate to Israel in me. But i dont know why?  In my country, it was always like a duty that everyone should hate Israel and their religion without any reason Everyone hates israel here, but no one knows why. As usual, i grow up wit...

The Arab-Israeli leadership is increasing pushing us into anti-Israel radicalism. This extremism climaxed with the “Death to the Jews” chants during Operation Cast Lead. Here is what I have to say to those leaders: Look at what you’ve done.   We did not cry out in the face of rocket attacks on southern residents that went on for years. We did not cry out in the face of the suffering of our brethren, Gaza residents, who have been brutally repressed by Hamas. Yet we crie...

I tried to imagine how different this conflict would be if Hamas set up medical facilities for Israeli civilians wounded by Qassam rocket attacks. The very idea, of course, is absurd. http://www.michaeltotten.com/archives/2009/02/a-dispatch-from.php

"Anti-war" Democrats in Congress question President Obama's anti-war stance:   After campaigning on the promise to end one war, President Barack Obama is preparing to escalate another. Obama's dual stance on the two wars is not lost on congressional Democrats, many of whom also ran on anti-war platforms. In coming weeks, they expect to have to consider tens of billions of dollars needed for combat, including a major buildup of troops in Afghanistan. While increasing...

Elections are happening in Israel. Here is an overview of the four leading parties and their leaders. 1. Likud ("Consolidation"), Binyamin "Bibi" Netanyahu The original party of Ariel Sharon represents mostly right-of-centre Israelis including the "settlers" (Jews who live in areas that according to the UN should be Jew-free). Netanyahu wants to continue the peace process but focus more on the economy in the Arab territories rather than border questions. The Likud does not support the...

Chapter III - Southern Sudan Southern Sudan has not fared well under Arab rule. Originally under Egyptian and British control, Sudan was handed over to an Arab dictator to "liberate" it from colonial rule. But coming under Arab rule was not the purest of liberations for the black Christians and animists of southern Sudan. Independence of Sudan meant genocide, slavery, and Arabisation for the black tribes of the south. And only a few years ago did the long civil war lead to autonomy and pos...

Remember the reports about Israel firing at a UN school in which "civilians" had found refuge? It was a lie. Physical evidence and interviews with several eyewitnesses, including a teacher who was in the schoolyard at the time of the shelling, make it clear: While a few people were injured from shrapnel landing inside the white-and-blue-walled UNRWA compound, no one in the compound was killed. The 43 people who died in the incident were all outside, on the street, where all three mo...
