A description of life under Israeli oppression in a region that western liberals would condemn Jews to death to deliver food and water to: Wandering around downtown Nablus the shops and restaurants I saw were full. There were plenty of expensive cars on the streets. Indeed I counted considerably more BMWs and Mercedes than I've seen, for example, in downtown Jerusalem or Tel Aviv. And perhaps most importantly of all, we had driven from Jerusalem to Nablus without going through ...

In a short entry titled "Take That Ahmadinejad", Israellycool Dave shows a picture of Omri Casspi, the first Israeli in the NBA, with Hamed Haddadi, the first Iranian in the NBA http://www.israellycool.com/2009/11/24/take-that-ahmadinejad/ I find this most interesting. I have seen it before, pictures of Israelis and purported enemies, and (usually Jewish) fans of Israel always celebrate these events, while Israel's enemies decry them. Similarly it was Iran, not Israel, that objected t...

And what does he do? He makes demands. What right does he have to make demands? Perhaps the Israeli foreign minister, the known fascist because he is a Jew Lieberman, should go to Europe and demand that, say, Spain stop building Spanish settlements in the Basque country (or in whichever area of Spain any Basque terrorist group sees as their land)? Apparently, after 60 years of wars and terrorism against Israel and after 2000 years of violent Anti-Semitism, the world has finally found ou...

A position is only solid when it can be tested, when evidence against it can bring it down. So I will here publish my standard for testing my position. These are my requirements for accusations against Israel that I will believe. 1. The accusations must not be part of a series made every year but must appear after several years of quiet; the accusations must stand out. 2. The accusations must refer to international law that applies to Israel as well as to other countries and has alre...

The Jerusalem Municipality is plowing ahead with plans for construction of more than 5,000 housing units in Arab neighborhoods. These include the following: A master plan for the Tel Adasa neighborhood in northern Jerusalem, where 2,000 new housing units are planned. A master plan for the Arab a-Sawahara area for a new housing compound with 2,500 units that is currently being prepared for discussion at the local council and district council levels. A master plan for the Dir...

I mentioned in a previous post that there is a war going on in Pakistan. https://forums.joeuser.com/368848 Since 2004 the Pakistani government has been fighting the Taliban and affiliated terrorists and so far the results are astounding: - 16,000 deaths - among those 6000 civilians - terrorists are here not counted as "civilians"   At the same time Israel (and to a lesser extent the PLO) has been fighting a war against Hamas and affiliated terrorists in Gaza and surro...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_in_North-West_Pakistan Results since 2004: 2,513 soldiers and policemen killed, 235+ tribesmen killed, 857+ soldiers and policemen captured (558 released) 7,712+ militants killed (809 foreign fighters) Over 3.44 million civilians displaced 5,291 civilians killed, 30 foreigners killed   If the UN are so worried about 300 civilian deaths in Gaza, the situation in Pakistan will certainly make them act immediately. Just kidding. The...

Thirty years ago, Iranian militants stormed the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, taking American diplomats hostage for 444 days, chilling relations between the two countries for decades and nailing the coffin in President Jimmy Carter's political career. The Iranian Revolution had begun. Today, the fundamentalist government in Tehran held protests to commemorate the event, as usual burning the American flag and encouraging shouts of "Death to America." This time, pro-democracy protesters -- many ...

The "charade of victimization" goes on and on: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB125693376195819343.html In his new suburban American home, Shaker Yakub, a Yemeni Jew, folded a large scarf in half, wrapped it around his head and tucked in his spiraling side curls. "This is how I passed for a Muslim," said the 59-year-old father of seven, improvising a turban that hid his black skullcap. The ploy enabled Mr. Yakub and half a dozen members of his family to slip undetected out of the...

I cannot verify this myself as I don't know the interviewed, but it is similar to what I have heard from Jerusalem Arabs and Jewish Israelis. The original is in German. My translation is below. http://www.israelheute.com/default.aspx?tabid=116&view=item&idx=1995 Nisreen Abdel Nabi ist Palästinenserin und lebt in Beit Hanina in Ostjerusalem. Die 24-Jährige machte im August von sich reden, als sie sich in einem Brief an Außenminister Avigdor Liebermann wandte....

AS the founder of Human Rights Watch, its active chairman for 20 years and now founding chairman emeritus, I must do something that I never anticipated: I must publicly join the group’s critics. ... When I stepped aside in 1998, Human Rights Watch was active in 70 countries ... The region is populated by authoritarian regimes with appalling human rights records. Yet in recent years Human Rights Watch has written far more condemnations of Israel for violations...

March 2009, just after the war: THERE WERE empty beds at Shifa Hospital and a threatening atmosphere. Hamas is reduced to wielding its unchallengeable authority from extensive air raid shelters which, together with the hospital, were built by Israel 30 years ago. Terrorized Gazans used doublespeak when they told me most of the alleged 5,500 wounded were being treated in Egypt and Jordan. They want it known that the figure is a lie, and showed me that the wounded weren't in Gaza. No evidenc...

This is a picture of a so-called "Blue Box", design from 1940. It shows how much land the Jewish National Fund had bought by 1940. You can see that it covers almost the entire coast line, much of the Galil to the lake, and parts of the northern Negev as well as most of Jerusalem. The JNF controlled a bit more than half the land owned by Jews in the country. The land was then under British sovereignty. The land shown on the map on the box was neither owned by Arabs nor under t...

None of these will actually achieve much, but I find it interesting which of the three possibilities people choose. What can the world do to promote peace?   Scenario A: Some Arab terrorist group fires at Israeli cities for a few years. Call 1 (before Israel fires back): "Stop shooting at the Israelis. It's morally wrong!" Call 2 (before Israel fires back): "Stop shooting at the Israelis. They will fire back!" Call 3 (after Israel fired back): "Stop shooting at t...

I am often told that there is anti-Semitism. In fact I have seen it. Almost everyone tells me that anti-Semitism is a bad thing and must be fought. In fact that point is often brought up by the same people who tell me something else as well. They tell me that the "Palestinian Cause" is a noble cause and not related to anti-Semitism in any way; that the leaders of the Palestinian Cause and the Palestinian people have to be supported and that their fight is necessary and noble. And anyway, Isra...
