Taking a piss: UK and American English - taking a piss.
Taking the piss: UK English - to deflate somebody, to disabuse them of their mistaken belief that they are special.
Taking the piss: American English - uh, um, ahhh, yuck, it's just to disgusting to even think about let alone define.
