A Leauki's Writings

My friend Mohamed Yahya )he is the former roommate of a friend of mine) is a refugee from Darfur and Executive Director of Damanga.

He wrote this article:

As the victims and survivors of Darfur genocide, we are not surprised by the results of the Sudanese rigged, flawed elections that have been announced earlier this week, to declare a victory for Omar Al-Bashir, as a re-elected president to Sudan. But we are extremely shocked, and terribly dismayed for the support of some International Community members, especially the US, the UN, the African Union, the Arab League, the Muslim world and some European countries.

...

And guess what?

Who has turned a blind eye to the suffering of Africans in Darfur?

-- A man who claims to be in charge of change, democracy and the civil rights movement and inheritor of Dr. King's legacy.

-- A man of the same African descent, and the first African American president of the United States of America.

-- A man called "OBAMA" who promised to do as good as Mr. King did and claimed:" The United States has a moral obligation anytime you see humanitarian catastrophes.

While I would normally expect such action (or inaction) from a politician (in this case the President); what bugs me the most about this Administration is the bogus claim of hope and change by which lead Obama to be the leader of this nation.

Even worse are the naive, ignorant, blind followers who refuse to accept reality even when confronted with facts. Obama can do no wrong, that is the mentality of the Obama followers.

George W. Bush organised a peace treaty between Sudan and the south of Sudan. That war ended. It cost more than two million lives before it ended.

Obama is the Prince of Peace, apparently, and what exactly does he do for peace?

He got a Nobel Peace Price. That#s what he did so far.

You forgot Obama rule #1.  He has never met a dictator or enemy of America he could not bow down to.

He GOT.  He did not earn it or merit it.  Like a lottery winner, there was no effort or actions that went toward that bogus award.

If there is one thing I have learned in life it's that when one does good, one pays the price for doing it as "no good deed goes unpunished". We live in a world where everyone wants good done but only if they benefit from it.

Obama is the Prince of Peace, apparently, and what exactly does he do for peace?

From what I have seen peace is one thing he lacks. They guy is anything but peace. Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, Palestine and even North Korea have all gone from bad to worse as turmoil grows all under this Administrations watch.

He got a Nobel Peace Price. That#s what he did so far.

Once Gore got his this prize no longer held any value to me, it would have been all the same giving them a prize for eating the most hotdogs.

Gore?  What about Carter?  It has been a joke for a very long time now.

Forgot about Carter, but still.

Arrafat got one too.

Arrafat got one too.

"Arafat" got his between making peace and breaking the peace treaty. Technically, it was OK giving him one, IF one accepts that murderers can be trusted.

Gore got his for something he really did, even though it had nothing to do with peace.

Obama got his for talking and doing nothing. That was pure politics and even Obama was surprised.

But Carter got his for Sadat's work, despite the fact that he, Carter, called "friends" the people who murdered Sadat.

Sadat was a real hero, in war and peace. Befriending his murderers and then collecting a price for Sadat's work is the most despicable of the four.

What did he do?  Don't give me a movie BS, that is what Academy awards are for.  What Substantive thing did Gore do?

What do you mean "substantive"?

I am just saying that he actually DID something.

Sure it had nothing to do with peace and wasn't much greater than making any other movie, but it sure beats starting a war to exterminate Jews, doing nothing and, most certainly, making friends with the murderers of the person who actually did what the price was for.

Of the lot described here, Carter, Arafat, Obama and Gore, Gore actually did the most. At least he didn't cause several wars.

Again, what did he do?  Why did James Cameron not win the Peace Prize?

And you seem to think that doing "something" is better than doing nothing.  But by that definition, Arafat deserved it as well. He did a lot.  Now, I do no think that what he did qualifies him for a Peace Prize, but he did more than Gore.

Arafat lied and deceived.  Gore lied and deceived.  Arafat is responsible for thousands of deaths.  Gore is responsible for more deaths.  both "did" something.  Neither did anything that would normally be considered worthy of the Peace prize.  But yes, they DID something.

Carter and Obama did nothing.  So the secret to winning a prize is to betray the spirit of the prize - or do nothing.

I don't know why the Nobel Peace Price was given to a movie maker for a film.

But I'd rather see the Price become a second Oscar than a price for people who cause (rather than end) wars.

Arafat was not only directly responsible for deaths, he also deliberately started wars, one after he signed a peace treaty. Carter betrayed a real peace hero, Sadat. And Obama... Obama has in so little time so messed up the Middle-East that it's hard to say which of his many many mistakes is the worst. While the Arabs slaughter Africans and openly announce that they want to slaughter the Jews too, Obama decided that the best move would be to give them the holy city of the Jews, despite the fact that it was a Jewish city when it was still part of Turkey.

But liberals accept it. They accept genocide. What they don't accept is that a Jewish city remains Jewish. That goes too far.
