While Lebanese Druze leader Walid Jumblatt is now calling for war

Has the West, with all its greatness, restored the village of Ghajar to us?

The village of Ghajar was never part of Lebanon but was part of Syria for 30 years (and of Israel for 40). Its inhabitants are Israeli citizens who do not want to become Lebanese. Mr Jumblatt will have to explain why he wants to annex an Israeli/Syrian village.

He goes on to describe his attitude towards honesty:

the agreements with Israel must be reconsidered.

And finally explains what he thinks of peace:

we are Arabs, and Israel is our enemy.

Iraqi writer Najm Wali reminds the Arab world that Jews are not foreigners in the middle east, that relations with Israel should be normalised, and that the Jews' experience with state-building should be used by the Arabs

This question has constantly made me wonder, even as a little boy: Why is this tiny state able to defeat us, even though we are 300 million?

The Jews are no foreigners here. They've lived in the region for many years, throughout Islamic history. Even in terms ofrace, ethnicity, and history - they are our cousins. They lived for many years in the Arab Peninsula, in Iraq, and everywhere.

What's interesting is that Walid Jumblatt, who is a political weathervane, supported the American invasion of Iraq.

Maybe he is just generally in favour of war and doesn't really care who is fighting whom and why?
