A Leauki's Writings

One of the major roadblocks on the path to peace is, according to the media, the issue of Jewish settlements on part of the land the Arabs claim as their own (i.e. in the middle east). It has to be solved immediately. All the other issues (like for example the Arab demand to drive Jews into the sea, and the Arab claim to rule over ALL middle-eastern peoples) are really non-issues.

Jewish settlements in the West-Bank and Arab settlements in Israel are a major issue. We need to do something about them. I see four possible solutions:

1. We declare Arab settlements in Israel illegal and drive out the Arabs. (Personally, I find this racist.)

2. We declare Jewish settlements in the West-Bank illegal and drive out the Jews. (This is not racist since no Arabs would be affected.)

3. We declare Jewish settlements in the West-Bank and Arab settlements in Israel illegal and do a population exchange. (I fear this might uproot too many people including ancient Arab presences in Israel and even more ancient Jewish presences in the West-Bank.)

4. We keep Jewish settlements in the West-Bank and Arab settlements in Israel, remember that Jews in Arab countries are as legal as Arabs in Jewish countries and/or annex Arab settlements into an Arab state (perhaps Jordan) and Jewish settlements into the Jewish state.

Re: 3. - how about we keep the bodies, and just transplant the minds?

Actually, I get your point.

If those involved were all equally interested in an actual solution to the issues, and were prepared to remove the hypocrisies, it wouldn't be so difficult.

Exactly!
