Islamic fundamentalism and the massive demonstrations against Israel this month have finally resulted in a surprise, perhaps, for the world.
What many people regarded as "criticism of Israel", opposition to which was dismissed as using the anti-Semitic club, has apparently made some people realise what was going on. "Jews back into the ovens" was finally understood not so much as a "legitimate criticism of Israel's actions" but as plain anti-Semitism.
Several groups in Germany and Italy have called for demonstrations FOR Israel, for peace, and against Hamas. Many were Christian organisations (however, the official churches seem to be on an anti-Israel road). And most of the initial support for Israel came from religious Christians and middle-class conservatives.
But now more and more left-wing groups have joined in (perhaps it was safe enough after the first two shows their colours).

The article by the youth organisation of the Social Democratic Part of Germany (like Labour in England) lists examples for blatant anti-Semitism as reasons to oppose the pro-Hamas protests. It also lists fascist developments in Germany and Italy.
Earlier a famous carnival clown (and Catholic Deacon) voiced his support for Israel and the Jewish people on German television.

(He gives cultural and religious reasons for his support and then tells a Jewish joke after giving examples of what he likes Jewish culture.)
I think Hamas have lost a lot with their attack on Israel and their military loss.
Egypt chose sides. All the Arab countries' hands were called (and they didn't have anything). And the anti-Semites in the west were, after a fortnight of seeming triumph, isolated.
