WHAT MUSLIMS CAN DO
Published on February 10, 2006 By Leauki In Current Events
And here it is:

1. Don't burn down stuff and stop killing people.

Now that that is out of the way, or if you are not the type of person anyway, follow the next few easy rules.

2. Don't educate the west, educate fellow Muslims. This is your religion and your rules and thus your problem, not ours.

3. Don't act as if other people made a mistake but learn from your own mistakes.

4. And stop pretending that your prophet is worth more than anybody or anything else. For you he might be, for us he is simply a man. And his philosophy seems more stupid to us every day.

These are the few simple rules you have to follow. It's very easy. None of them are particularly nasty. You can follow them by sitting in a comfy chair for several weeks. Perhaps read the Qur'an, while you are at it.

I believe it tells you not to idolise Muhammed.

That is a smart rule, and one that many of you currently violate. If threatening violence to save a man's honour is not idolatry, then I don't know what is.

You see, it turns out idolatry is wrong. I hope G-d forgives you all.

Good evening.

Or, when we are portrayed as infedels worth killing, when our flags are burned, when our people are beheaded, when pundits on al Jazeera start banging away at Jews, expect what you dish out in return with interest.

If muslims would just follow those rules I am myself norwegian (our embassy in Damascus is burned, and some of our troops in Afghanistan were recently attacked by a mob armed with grenades and guns), and over here we have quite a debate about freedom of speech. What worries me is not violent muslims burning embassies (though that isn't very pleasant either), but rather the fact that the great majority of the muslim world is either completely ignorant, or opposed to free speech. My impression is that many norwegian muslims wish for there to be a law against blasphemy (in fact, we already have such a law here in norway, though most ethnical norwegians are probably in favour of removing it). It is quite possible by norwegian law that the first norwegian newspaper to print these pictures, "magazinet", will be found guilty of blasphemy. Sp what I fear and react the most to in this crisis is not the violence, but rather the fact that almost all muslims seem to be against free speech (danish consumer exports to the middle east has almost completely stopped because of the consumer boycott. Muslims want the editors to be punished and laws passed that forbidd "blasphemy". I wonder where the world would be if noone ever was critical of religion...

I called my parents, who live near the Danish border in Germany, and asked them to buy Danish products.

Specifically I asked my mother to buy so many Danish products that people would notice it in the market.

That was after I read about the boycott boycott on Sandmonkey's Web log (http://egyptiansandmonkey.blogspot.com/) but before the idea became widespread and was mentioned in the MSM.

I live in Ireland an there are very few Danish products here.

And I don't play with Lego any more.

Ok, on your article, Sehr Gut! Yes it is what is needed. Let us hope some of them listen!

On the quote. My Wife and I are debating Florida or Hamburg this summer. They near the latter? My mother wants us in Florida. A friend is getting married in Hamburg (not close, just a friend of a friend). So if we go, can we say hi to them?

Thanks. But they will not listen. I just wanted to put things into perspective for the rest of us.

Say hi to my parents? Why not, I suppose. They are nice people, if a little weird. Their English fluctuates.

They are indeed near Hamburg (it's the next big city). If you go to Hamburg, we can arrange something. Make it a very small JU life meeting. I can be there too. (The last person who wanted to talk to my parents but not to me was a high school teacher.)

Just look at the Mideast for your answer. About a thousand years behind everyone else (except when it comes to weapons and killing, of course) and getting no better.
I hope your country holds the course and comes through this with its freedoms intact; giving in to the Muslims will only bolster them in their intolerance and demands that the West change for their benefit.

By the way: Cool article, AB. You get an insightful!

Unofrtunately, many people believe that the enemy of the West is Islamic terrorism. It is not. The enemy of the West is Islam.

To the muslims:

The west has its own religions to contend with without you throwing your religion in the mix!

to the muslims:

you see Jesus as a man and a prophet not the way to God.

The christians see your prophet as a man and not the way to god

you must therefore learn to agree to disagree and end it there. Stop forcing your religion on others.

Live as your prophet told you to live - peacefully
