Iraqis are studying Hebrew at Baghdad University.
I find this especially interesting since my Hebrew teacher is from an Iraqi family.
The sooner the Arab states learn to accept that one of the non-Arab peoples is independent of their rule, the sooner we will have peace in the middle-east. Recognition of "the other" is an important step in the right direction.
Wearing an elegant pink headscarf, Marwa Abdel Karim serenades her fellow Baghdad University students with a heartfelt ...
Charles Krauthammer explains the problems with Obama's foreign policy:
The real news is that already notorious photo: the president of Brazil, our largest ally in Latin America, and the prime minister of Turkey, for more than half a century the Muslim anchor of NATO, raising hands together with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the most virulently anti-American leader in the world.
That picture -- a defiant, triumphant take-that-Uncle-Sam -- is a crushing verdict on the Obama foreign policy. It demonst...
It is surprising but it seems that Obama's quest to "improve" relations with America's allies after the eight-year Bush debacle continue to fail. Even Reuters acknowledges that Obama has problems even just getting along with allies:
U.S. President Barack Obama and Afghan President Hamid Karzai, allied in war but lacking in personal chemistry, face a critical test next week of whether they can just get along
Any Obama supporters here w...
Somalilandpress.com are still optimistic about rumours that Israel wants to recognise Somaliland's independence.
I understand their optimism and I totally support official recognition, but I am ultimately less optimistic. I have checked every hint they had, Hebrew-language articles in Israeli newspapers, quotes from officials, word on the street; but I never could find the source of the rumours.
I do know that the Israeli public are likely to support Somaliland.
This is an opportunity for a really sarcastic article about how the supposed war crime of liberating Iraq somehow led to Iraqis voting for the very people who not only supported the invasion but even those who made the invasion happen. But instead of writing such an article, I thought I will rather celebrate this great democratic success and give liberals who opposed the invasion a chance to celebrate this too.
For the third time Iraqis have had the chance to vote.

I found this interesting article on Ynet News.
Martin Sherman offers a paradigm shift from the political to the humanitarian
And he makes some excellent points:
It is time for the proponents of the two-state solution to admit that the Palestinians have failed the test of history in staking their claim for statehood.
A dispassionate evaluation of the events of the past two decades inexorably compels one towards an increasing evident conclusion: The Palestinians...
What is your position regarding Jews and Arabs living in Jerusalem?
1. Jews and Arabs should be allowed to buy or build houses in all of Jerusalem.
2. Only Jews should be allowed to buy or build houses in all of Jerusalem.
3. Only Arabs should be allowed to buy or build houses in all of Jerusalem.
This could be good news.
A Somalilander friend has sent an email to tell me about this article:
The government of Israel is ready to restore the de jure recognition it has offered to Somaliland in 1960 as it eyes the Red Sea and the Horn, an Israeli spokesman says.
Many analysts believe Israel has growing national interest in the Red Sea region, a key shipping route. According to well-informed regional...
Dutch MP Geert Wilders, who has been accused of Islamophobia, faces trial in his own country for inciting hatred.
You have probably already heard of Dutch politician Geert Wilders who has been accused of "Islamophobia" (which is apparently now a crime in Europe) and is currently on trial for his opinions.
Wilder's politial opinions are "libertarian" as he calls it but also ahve room for a public healthcare system and social services. He i...
Dos and Donts for the modern humanist:
I sometimes wonder why "peace activists" accept the Nazis as evil. After all, they demonized European Jews (who are not better than middle-eastern Jews), called for a boycott of their businesses, and tried to murder them (and succeeded). Those same acts today are considered "resistance" and the groups that pursue them are called "peace partners" and their demands are seen as justified.
The "United Nations", founded the be a forum for _nations_ to speak has over the decades since her founding become a forum that defends dictatorial rule over nations and prevents nations from asserting their independence.
I wrote about this issue before.
Now Ban Ki-moon, completely ignoring the Nilo-Saharan (African) tribes' right of self-determination which the United Nations are meant to uphold has decided that the United Nations, the forum, ought to take sides. And, surprisingly enough,...
The Miami Herald finally reveals the true depth of the racist evil that is the Zionist Entity:
Israelis seem determined to do all they can to help the inhabitants of a frail nation thousands of miles away, people with no connection to Israel other than the fact that they both have a history of suffering. Watching the Israeli response -- one of the fastest, most effective of any country on Earth -- it is striking to see the enormous gap between the grotesque image of Israel woven by its enemie...
Reports from Haiti say that the racist Israeli oppressors have arrived and built one of their terror hospitals:
The IDF's field hospital in the Haitian capital worked at full capacity throughout Sunday, treating a relentless stream of victims from what a senior IDF medical officer described as "the war outside."
Overnight Saturday, in what staff described as one of the most fulfilling moments of their work, the Israeli doctors delivered a baby boy, whose mother, Gubilande Jean Michel, prom...
According to these reports from the BBC and "Democratic Underground", whom both I have decided to trust about this, the Israeli secret service had tried to warn the US about the 9/11 terror attacks in advance and to prevent them.
The American intelligence agency, the CIA, could have prevented the 11 September attacks if it were not for systematic failures, according to the German newspaper Die Zeit.
The paper has uncovered details of a major Israeli spy ring involving some a 120 ...
