A Leauki's Writings

My favourite Palestinian blogger has written a surprising article again, quoting an interview from the Arab Gulf:

Interviewee: I have my own personal opinion on the Palestine conflict. In my opinion I have no problems with Palestine belonging to both Jews and Muslims. Moreover, it was originally a Christian state.

Interviewer: Why for both the Jews and Muslims?

Interviewee: The origin of the name (Israel).. The people of Israel who were in Egypt migrated back to Palestine, which is their original land. I say that the Jews are the more rightful owners.

Remarkable is not only the interviewee's position but also that it can be said openly.

As far as I can make out the translation of the Arabic is correct.

Good to see you back!  And you never know where you will find sanity these days.  Perhaps it was always like that, but the prevalence of mass communication today makes it seem harder to find.

I rarely find antisemitism among Arabs. It's really mainly a western phenomenom. In the Arab world it's real ignorance, people really don't know anything about Israel. Even the Arab media are less hostile towards Israel than the western media (and they don't pretend to be "neutral").

Yes, I find it refreshing to actually see some media that says "we like..." or "we hate..." and then tell their story.  You know exactly what to expect.
