A Leauki's Writings
Sheikh Abdul Hadi Palazzi
Published on December 4, 2008 By Leauki In War on Terror

Sheikh Palazzi is the co-chair of Islam-Israel Fellowship, secretary general of the Italian Muslim association, and an Imam in Italy. He is of Syrian Muslim descent. His work includes interfaith discussions with Jews, Christians, and Buddhists.

He has a tendency to quote from the Quran and say few things that he cannot back up. Far from arguing that G-d changed His mind after granting the Land of Israel to the Children of Israel he insists that G-d's law be followed and that changes can only be made by G-d and G-d alone. He rejects an alliance between Islam and Nazi Germany and speaks up against those Muslim clerics who in the 1940s proposed such a union.

Whenever I read his words, it is clear to me that many who speak in the name of Islam really speak in the name of national pride. True faith requires belief in what might not be of personal advantage. Many times religious belief is just by concidence aligned with power for onself.

Sure, there are Jews who hold it with the terrorists and a German Neo-Nazi could point to those in the same way this German Zionist points to Sheikh Palazzi. But the difference is that the Neo-Nazi can speak up whereever he wants, while I cannot. The reason is simply that there exist hateful people who deny freedom of speech on the one side, but not on the other.

Islam and Christianity are not on opposing ends of the spectrum. But some people are.

"I am glad to inform you that the Italian Muslim Assembly and the Cultural institute of the Italian Islamic Community are joining the demonstration of protest in front of the Iranian Embassy organized by “Il Foglio” for the incoming November 3. The infamous words by the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, according to which “Israel must be cancelled from maps”, must be openly, strongly and publicly condemned by all those who believe in democracy and peace coexistence among the nations. In joining the praiseworthy initiative organized by your daily newspaper, the democratic and moderate Muslims belonging to the Italian Muslim Assembly and to the Cultural Institute of the Italian Islamic Community want to voice their solidarity with Israel, threatened in its own right to exist, and extend the same solidarity to those democratic Iranians who have been fighting for years against a clerical dictatorship which is corrupt their country and changing it into a barbarous entity.

Civil nations must unanimously oppose a rough nation whose President openly declares his intention to destroy the only democracy of Middle East. The representative of such a rough nation cannot sea side by side with the representatives of the civil nations, and must be expelled by international organization, starting from the  United Nations Organization. We ask the UNO Secretary Kofi Annan to consider the opportunity to expel Iran from the UN. As a minimum, he must immediately cancel his planned visit to Tehran.

Like it happened on April 15, 2002 during the "Israel Day", our participation to a demonstration in support of the State of Israel organized by the board of "Il Foglio" is a gesture to voice our solidarity with all those Israeli citizens who are living under the daily threat of terrorism and antisemitism. We thank you for giving us and many other Italian citizens an opportunity to show our love for Israel with a concrete initiative. We wish for Israel to prosper and to grow strong, and we hope to see "cancelled" that corrupt and bloodthirsty mullahcratic regime which is so hated by the wide majority of Iranians. WE also of to celebrate with all of you the day in which, like it happened with Saddam Hussein, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will also be sent to jail and tried for his crimes."

Sheikh Palazzi also wrote about Israel's right to exist as per the Quran:

"God wanted to give Avraham a double blessing, through Ishmael and through Isaac, and ordered that Ishmael's descendents should live in the desert of Arabia and Isaac's in Canaan."

http://templemount.org/quranland.html

"And say not of those who are slain in the way of Allah that they are dead; nay they are living, although ye perceive it not.

And We will try you with something of fear and hunger, and loss of wealth and lives and fruits; but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere.

Who, when a misfortune overtakes them, say, Verily, to Allah we belong and verily to Him shall we return.

It is these on whom descend blessings from their Lord and  mercy, and the are the ones who are rightly guided."

(Glorious Qur'an, al-Baqarah 154-157)

"President George Bush claims he reads the Bible daily, but seems to forget that it is written there that the Land of Israel is G-d's gift to the Children of Israel, the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. It was not given to anyone else, including the descendants of Ishmael, since they received plenty of territory in other locations. Even so, whoever attempts to steal any of the Divine inheritance of the Jewish people declares war not only on a particular nation, but on G-d and His decree."

OH Leauki, Leauki ...

I thought we just agreed that it is a political matter.

I was Hoping that in dealing with the Israeli/Arabian conflict, as you said your intentions were, that you wont dwell too much on the past and on the religious texts ....

we better face the facts on the ground ... and talk about how to resolve it .. not to justify any side's position.

that is how I always looked at this issue. Going back and rehashing the past is a futile effort. it does not change the facts on the ground and it does not make the solution possible.

There is a very convincing response to that quote. But i am not going there ... it doesnt serve our goal. I hope that you always keep your own intentions in mind and dont derift to that very thorny past.

I thought we just agreed that it is a political matter.

I agree that hatred of Jews is not Islamic and that hatred of Israel is political. However, Judaism's ties to Jerusalem are religious.

As long as one side calls for the destruction and extermination of the other side, I do feel a need to justify my position. I have a right to live, as does Israel.

How can we resolve it?

If the Arabs lay down their weapons, it's resolved. It's that easy.

I went back to the past to show that Islam is not what caused this conflict. I also go back to the past to show what the PLO's goals are.

I wish there was a party on the Arab side that supports a two-state solution and doesn't demand that all the Jewish holy sites be under foreign control. In fact, I'd be satisfied if there was a party on the Arab side that didn't have direct links to either today's Iran or the past's Germany.

There is a very convincing response to that quote. But i am not going there ... it doesnt serve our goal.

I know the convincing response. Allah changed everything and just didn't tell us. I have heard it before.

But the fact is that Muhammed referred as the farthest place of worship to the place where Abraham and Yitzaq worshipped whereas Mecca is the place of worship of Abraham and Yishmael.

The Quran at no point changes the relationship between the sons of Yitzaq and the sons of Yishmael

OK...facts on the ground:

1. Israels' there and if it decides not to "return" any lands just who's going to make it?

2. Iran pushes it's luck too far and it's gone. Not every Israeli leader will be an "Olmert". There are still "Meir's", "Sharon's" and "Dayan's" around.

3. The Geo-Theo-Political Moslem Arab entity or "Oomah" will never be satisfied until Israel is gone. I don't believe they want peace now or in the near future. Every indicator I can observe shows me they have not changed.

on Dec 05, 2008

Ooh, i see. That does not sound to me as a start of both sides trying to reach an agreement. It is a victor asking the defeated to surrender. isnt it?

been there, done that ... it never happens

I know the convincing response. Allah changed everything and just didn't tell us. I have heard it before.

No you dont. That is not it. Allah, God, Never change His mind.

Still, i am not going there. I will let you think about the Actual convincing response. It is not hard to know. Just start from Umar's agreement with the leaders of Jerusalem after defeating the Romans and liberating the whole region from their rule and oppression. see how things progressed from that point in that area which, by that time, was called "Phalastine" until that promise was made in 1898.

But that is not going to change anything ... would it?...

whoever ignores history is condemend to repeat it. ...

Never underestimate the power of Justice. It always prevails no matter how long it takes. We ignore that at our own peril.

I don't believe they want peace now or in the near future. Every indicator I can observe shows me they have not changed.

your #1 (if it represents Israeli's thinking) indicates the same applies to Israel as well.

so where do we go from here?

no where i think. .... i thought we are trying to go some where

I guess i was wrong.

on Dec 05, 2008

Well, may be it would if you follow the history there as it happened, not as you wish, and then analyze the situation without bias.

If both sides do that they will reach a solution that satisfies both of them.

From what i see here and there, that is a huge big IF.

Well, that's the fact. They lost. They tried and if they had succeeded....well, we wouldn't be having this discussion. Just a bunch more dead Jews.

But, we didn't lose. Soooo go cry somewhere else. Maybe if you beg long enough, and lie long enough someone will believe you.

Ooooooh. How you do frighten me. LOL.

Don't send your women and children to blow themselves up. Try facing us like men. Oh....crying in the media is easier and safer, isn't it?

Well, number one: you lay down your arms. If Israel did that, no more Israel. If you do it, and get rid of your corrupt leadership, there will be peace.

You won't do that, so let's keep on keeping on. When you hurt enough, you'll buy the ticket.

Well, may be it would if you follow the history there as it happened, not as you wish, and then analyze the situation without bias.

The problem is, there is no history {written by the victor, remember?} without bias.

Here's the deal:

Lay down your arms. Go home and go to school. Reject fanaticism and actively dicipline those who are fanatics. Raise your children with love, without hatred. Leave Israel and the Jews alone until you can relate as equals.

go cry somewhere else. Maybe if you beg long enough, and lie long enough someone will believe you.

 Me?????!!!!

why would I do that?.

I am not them and if that is the way you like it to be with them ... be my guest.

I thought we were having a thoughtful discussion about a major problem in the world.

Oooh Boy ... how wrong I was !!!!

End of discussion, if there was ever one....

on Dec 07, 2008

A discussion? OK...discuss with me if the Arab armies had won in ANY war, would there be a "discussion" about returning land to Israel? No, and you know it. Whether or not Islam is at the root of the problem, it matters not: The problem remains. The Arab states cannot admit defeat. So, more will die.

So, when you lost, it was time to change tactics: Wheedle and Protest, Intifada and Media became the new weapons.  You see that Israeli Jews care about living in peace because human life means something to them so, reassure them all will be well and there will be peace. Like Auschwitz.

Unfortunately for you, there a few left like me that see through the pseudointellectual 'reasoning'.

Check out "religion vs. politics":

Your clerics are not even allowed to shake his hand without washing seven times afterwards. Yeah. Peace. LOL.

Isn't it interesting that many in the world do not believe in Jehovah, but the entire world seems to revolve around a place smaller than New Jersey. interesting.....

on Dec 07, 2008

I really don't think the world revolves around Israel. The topic of the post was "Israel's Muslim Friends II".

Are you thinking about oil and the middle-east? Perhaps that's a reason the world seems to revolve around it...or because of unceasing terrorism? I don't think people necessarily relate only because of religion.

Why do you think that? And why pick the (mispelled) Jewish one?

on Dec 08, 2008

And why pick the (mispelled) Jewish one?

Ok. The formatting seems to be messed up. Hope we reach the next page soon.

There are more Muslim friends to follow. I personally ran into many Muslims who support Israel, both inside and outside the land.

TC: The name of G-d is not "Jehova". But you have a point regarding the place smaller than New Jersey. But, of course, it isn't really about the place. Jews and othe rminorities have been attacked and murdered in the Arab world for decades before 1948. It's about Arab nationalism just like Europe's problems were due to German, then Russian, and finally Serbian nationalism.

on Dec 08, 2008

President Bush claims to read the bible, but seems to forget that....

Actually, He is doing what most people in the States want him to do.  Most of the ill-informed don't understand why the whole conflict is going on and that it is simply because Israel is illegally occupying the land.  They'll point out how that the UN resolution 181 in 1947 was not fair. As someone pointed out and I feel the same all the Palestinians are doing now are being a little kid and throwing a temper tantrum. They didn't get it their way so I'm just going to throw a fit until I get it.

DrJBHL, Sharon wasn't a good Prime Minister.  His military career was very good (I did not like his stunt on the Temple Mount in 2000). Guess whose administration Olmert came out of and actually was right below Sharon.  Sharon started it and Olmert just finished it.

The one thing that I will state is that BOTH sides are at fault and have done things to one another.  After living on both sides; both sides are brewing hate for the other.  Particularly the Palestinians. They don't like Fatah (who are nationalist) due to how greedy they are and they don't like Hamas (who are radical muslims) due to the fact of how fiercely they'll surpress both ANY opposition and Israel if they get a chance.

Two of the main issues (peace won't happen) are that neither Religious Jews nor Religious Muslims for the most are willing ot corporate with the other side.  There is so much hate being taught at a very young about the otherside (ex. they're: thieves, crooks, liars, cheats, ect ect).

I do feel Palestinians are more at fault than the Israel but Israel still did something that weren't right. This situation will NOT BE FIXED/PEACE COME BY HUMAN HANDS or HUMAN WEAPONS.

I miss being over there :-{ I was going to say some more but I forgot what I was going to say.... Long long day at work.

both sides are brewing hate for the other

I have never seen much hatred for Arabs in Israel, not on the university where I shared dorms with Arab students, nor in the cities.

The only people I have met who hated Arabs were Jews whose parents or grand parents fled Arab countries (they still remember the reality of what Arabs claim was peaceful co-existence) and some arrogant Russian immigrants who never meet that many Arabs anyway.

Israeli television doesn't feature shows about how evil Arabs are and Israelis rarely vote for parties that want to do anything against Israeli Arabs and there are no legal parties that propose the killing of Arabs like Hamas or the PLO promote the killing of Jews.

Jewish terrorists are always condemned and persecuted by Israel.

I understand that some of the Jews in the territories hate Arabs. But there are very few of those Jews and I doubt that they hate Arabs more than the Arabs hate all Jews.
